When we received Harper’s diagnosis in the hospital, one of the first things the doctor asked was if we would like to be connected to local resources. This is one of the best things medical professionals can do when giving this life changing diagnosis. We said yes and soon after we were contacted by the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond (DSAGR) – what a gift!
A part of DSAGR’s First Call program included a visit from another mom with a child with Down syndrome. This was an encouraging visit as we held our new baby in our arms still wrapping our heads around this diagnosis and what it meant for not only Harper’s future, but ours. We are so thankful for this organization and have continued to participate in other events throughout the year. However, like any organization they rely on donations to keep things going. DSAGR’s big event is coming up and we want you to join us again!
On October 5, 2019 DSAGR will be hosting the 13th Annual Step Up for Down Syndrome 5k & Family Festival. Many of you supported us last year by either joining or donating to team Hip Hip Harper Rae! We had a blast last year and are so thankful for all the support as we navigate our role as parents to a child with Down syndrome.
