When was the last time you ended up on a path you didn’t plan or expect to walk down in your life?
Sometimes these are exciting things like you got an unexpected job promotion or a surprise visit from a friend. Other times these are hard and life-changing events such as a Down syndrome diagnosis or losing a friend to brain cancer.
Life often has a way of bringing the unexpected, but there is joy to be found in the messy process of moving forward.
When your life has changed course, you can still find joy.
When you find yourself on a path that is unfamiliar and hard, you can still celebrate.
When you feel like you can’t take it a minute longer, you can persevere.
I’ve found this to be completely true in my journey! And I’m here to share how I have found joy, celebration and perseverance through the unexpected. You will find stories of the importance of family, friends and faith here.

Hello, my name is Laurie and I know a thing or two about dealing with the unexpected. From an at-birth Down syndrome diagnosis with my first child to a premature birth at 32 weeks with my second child, motherhood in general has landed me on a journey I did not anticipate. But now I’m finding new ways every day to celebrate the journey I’m on.
